New Contrast magazine is published quarterly in association with the Centre for Creative Writing at the University of Cape Town. At New Contrast we publish poetry, short fiction, reviews and essays which reflect new writing in and of Africa, and southern Africa in particular. Started in 1960, it is the oldest surviving literary journal in South Africa.
